Tangled Angles

Downtown Des Moines, IA

? I? tried to get more downtown shots from different angles.? I couldn’t find the right place to take these from, so they all sucked.? Every place I went either a building, power lines, or something was in the way.? I think the pro shots that you see local businesses use were taken from rooftops of buildings.? Unfortunately I don’t have the backstage passes that they get.? Maybe some day I’ll find a way or meet someone who can get me there.

? Obstructed again.? Of course I’m not showing all my failed attempts at finding the right spot.? There were far too many.

Getting a good shot is not allways easy. Some of the larger multi-level buildings may have staircases that have windows to the outside world. Check with any lobby staff or securiy for permission first. That above ground shot you may get from a 5th floor window may work out for you.

Thanks for the tip. The one problem I can think of is that shooting through the glass of the window might take some clarity from the picture, but at least I would have a shot instead of none. I do have a lens hood that I can put right up to the window to block any inside light glare. I’ll give this a try sometime, because I’m getting nowhere on the ground.

Nick, what was the point of these pics. You know Des Moines isn’t that cool. I think you should put another pic of me doing the robot in the middle of all this lame ones to make it interesting.

Well Des Moines is no Portland, but I have to work with what I have here. I do have a lot of extra unused pictures of you doing the robot, and this post couldn’t get much worse. I was hoping that posting my failed attempts would possibly solicit information from anyone that has tips on ideal locations to get downtown shots.

Can you put pictures on here from the south area where Rocket Transfer is and a bunch of other warehouses? I’m really intrested in those buildings.
