Calibrate Monitor - To see pictures on your monitor as they were intended, it is important that your monitor is adjusted correctly.  These all should be done using the buttons on your monitor.  Set your color temperure to 6500 or as close as possible.  It may look weird at first but your eyes will soon adjust to the correct color temperature.  Adjust contrast and brightness on your monitor until you can see as many distinct shades as possible on the black and white bars.  After the adjustments make sure that white is still white and black is still black.
