Noticing evidence that this building may be resurrected soon, I wanted to capture it in it’s derelict state.
This is some Mexican restaurant a few buildings down that’s being remodeled.

Ah, the poor former Zuider Zee. Hard for many to believe now that this was once one of the most popular restaurants in the Western suburbs. Had a fab Sunday brunch. Imagine it with windmills, shutters, landscaping, and other Dutch bric-a-brac.
Or better yet, imagine some less derelict property stripped bare; it would look much the same. For example, take away the fountain from Nollen Plaza and whaddaya have?–mere concrete!
Thanks for the info! I knew nothing about Zuider Zee or the aparently nice features that once graced the building. As far as I can remember, I believe it’s been some buffet since at least 1997 or so.

I’ve seen that first building. It’s in Urbandale, and I’m pretty sure it’s abandoned.
