Growing up, my family always had dogs. As a kid I had a couple friends with cats but I didn’t pay much attention to them. I always thought they were fairly stupid and uninteresting. That couldn’t be further from the truth. Cats have explosive amounts of personality, and I believe they have as much intelligence as dogs.

Pounce

Having two cats is the way to go. Although they are less social pack oriented than dogs, they do benefit from the company. I think both of ours are much more happy because they keep each other occupied.

Don’t sweat it. There’s many reasons why colors can come out different in pictures. For one I use custom color settings to jack up the saturation of vivid colors. The lighting and type of light bulbs (incandescent, halogen, flourescent) can change colors. Also the white balance on the camera can error when it’s hard to detect the lighting. Direct flash tends to drown out colors too.
In addition to all that, I often tweak curves, levels, and saturation in Photoshop. Then the last and most widespread problem is that each computer and monitor are calibrated differently. Add to that problem the possibility that the end user changes settings on the monitor.
The end result is that a ton of work has to be done to calibrate colors on the camera and computer to display true to life. When viewing the pictures over the internet, each computer would need a custom color profile created to make them calibrated as well. This will never happen.
